A Beginners Guide to Adsense

So, you signed up for Adsense, got your publisher ID and you are all ready to begin making money with your ads. Well, unless you take care when setting up those ads you won’t see much of it. This guide is designed to help you get your Adsense right the first time. Follow these tips and your ads will flourish.

Tip 1: Decide after looking long and hard at your site, what sized ads you want to use and where. Too many, people do this the other way around and end up with poorly placed ads because they are trying to find a home for that last banner.

Tip 2: Match your colors. If you can use a pre-done pallet, great if not you are going to have to adjust each color manually. This may seem trivial but it will help the ads to blend with the site and encourage viewers to see them more as helpful links than advertising.

Tip 3: Use the right type of ad in the right place. There is a time and place for image based ads and one for text based ads. There are no hard and fast rules here, just be sure to use common sense and when in doubt take a look at your site.

Tip 4: Know when to say when, this goes hand in hand with number one but it can not be stressed enough. Even 1 ad too many can seem like 3 too many to your readers.

A final thought on Adsense, while this is a fine way to begin making money you should not depend on any one source exclusively. If you plan to head this advice, keep room for other ad services on your site. Also you will want to be very familiar with the terms of the ad programs and the payout information.
