What's a professional blogger's daily life like, exactly? Is it waking up late, writing a short tidbit of information that's been precariously researched, and then jumping on the couch with a box of pizza? I wish.
To be quite honest, being a professional blogger or, in my case, online columnist/journalist, is quite an arduous adventure. I wake up every day at around 9AM, and begin researching shortly after. An article is usually written by 10AM, and then I can grab a bite to eat. Then the phone calls start, the independent research chugs on, and the basis of credibility must be asserted. This all occurs before 12PM. Couple this with the fact that I'm actually doing all this between classes - on campus, to boot - and you realize that a columnist's day can actually become quite hectic. When I finish with classes and head on home, it's on to more research - because the technology field never rests. By 1PM, I've probably pumped out a good 3 or 4 posts. I take a break around this time, because I then have to begin working with another business (graphic designer for a t-shirt company.) At around 6PM, I pick the torch back up, and catch up on the 5 hours that I've missed. This keeps me busy, clicking away and typing to my heart's content until around 9PM, where I can finally give up the ghost and call it a day.
Well, I would, except for the fact that I have to then have to administrate a photography website, and make sure that all the uploads and changes made throughout the day have not broken anything on the site. But that's a story for another time.
And this is a slow day for me.
