Aeros 2.1 Yeah!

aeros21So here it is, the new Aeros version 2.1. It’s got a very nice page/childpage menu on top. Make sure to try it at the preview site. It also fixes some minor bugs and I’ve cleaned the background images a bit and added a new one (“hill”) which I think is even better than the old default one. Aeros 2.1 has been tested in FF3, IE7, Opera, Safari and Chrome and had no issues there. So what are you waiting for? Preview it – and get the Premium Aeros Theme!

On your demo site, the page menu fades in and out slowly. However, on my development server as well as the site linked in the first post by Ramoonus, the subpages appear and disappear instantly. The problem is that they disappear so fast that I often can’t select the sub-page menu before it disappears. I’m using the latest Firefox stable release. Any idea why it’s acting differently on sites other than the demo?

Other than that, it looks great!

Also, I noticed that the comment count on the left side on the main page does not link to the comments for the post, which surprised me. I thought this was linked in prior versions. Was this change planned?

  3. Jason says:

Hi there, what would one change in the CSS to increase the width of the main column? I’d prefer it to be around 700px to allow my short movies and photos to be displayed. Hope it’s possible as the theme looks very smart :)

Child page sub-menus are great, many thanks. I don’t get the lovely rounded corners and transparency in IE6 though but I can live with it:)

      IE6 sucks
I made some hacks to make it less ugly
don’t mind – only a few percent are still using this MS Steamboat

      • mplx says:

few percent? nearly 20% of surfers still use IE6 (wordlwide; jan’09, source: wikipedia), and a survey in dec’08 showed that more than 55% of companies use IE6 (source: dailytech)…

IE 6: Not on my sites – be it as it will – it’s a running mistake and cost developers sleepless nights around the globe. IE6 should just be banned for all time.

Joe, can you remind me of the code to bring back the “Home” parent menu?

    Cheers!!

    • Joe says:

Hi, thanks. Changing the content width is quite tricky as you said. It’s close to impossible to describe it. If you send me the exact specs you need I could do that for a few bucks – just contact me by email.

    Ey Joe,
still missing the inbuild auto-update function for your theme. It worked great for the last update…

Hi. I’m new to WP. I’m loving your Aeros theme. One question. Where do I go to change my avatar?

    Thx

    Hey Joe,
what about a new, 2.7-compatible version of Aer?
    I’d really appreciate it :)

  10. New Theme in Operation…

Thanks to the Buckmaker, Family Fund Project has a cool new theme.  They have coded a beautiful and functional FOC theme called Aeros 2.1 that is compatible with WordPress 2.7 and works great in FireFox.

When you have no sub pages, the layout goes loco.
It it just me, or is it a bug?

  12. Carlton Bale says:

I found a couple of errors in the code for the drop-down menu. The file snapfish.css references the image files shadow.png and arrows-ffffff.png, but those files don’t exist in the image directory. I just removed those 2 lines of code and that seemed to fix the problem without causing any others. Thought you’d like to know; hope this helps.

  13. Daniele says:

    Hi Joe,
I’m Daniele from Italy, I would like to know how it is possibile to create a page in wordpress (with aeros theme) without the sidebar.
    Thanks
