FAQ

Here I want to answer questions that have frequently been asked:

General

Q: What is the difference between free theme support and theme customization?
A: Theme Support = Support for the theme as it is: How to use functions, how to install it, issues with plugins, bugs, wishes for next versions, ...
Theme Customization = Individual changes to the standard default theme or its functions (custom fonts, headers, sizes, positions, links, backgrounds, ...)

I offer free theme support for all PREMIUM THEMES which means: If you find a bug or an issue with one of my themes, former WP versions or plugins you use, please leave a comment in the PREMIUM THEMES GROUP. If you have suggestions for upcoming versions, please do the same. I provide this FAQ page for most common free theme questions that might occur during setting up your website. If you have issues that are due to changes you made, if you would like to individualize your theme by using special sizes, colors, background images or other optical elements, this is theme customization which I can offer you on a paid basis for PREMIUM THEMES.

Q: Why don't you offer free theme customization and support for free themes?
A: Please understand that I cannot set up your custom theme or support your themes for free as my time is limited and I have to prioritize things.

Q: How do I install the theme?
A: Simply follow the instructions in the readme file.

Q: Where do I find the version history?
A: There is a textfile in your theme directory called 'changelog.txt'

Q: Am I allowed to change the themes?
A: Yes, you may change themes in any way you want. All themes are licensed GPL (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/). Please leave the link in the footer of the free themes.

Q: May I port themes to other platforms like Serendipity?
A: Of course you may - please leave a link in the footer to thebuckmaker.com.

Q: Is there any warranty for your themes?
A: To be legal ;) : This WordPress Theme is provided as is. The Theme Author, Joe Fischler, offers no warranty, explicit or implied, redarding all files contained, accuracy of information, or any rights or licenses under this agreement. The Author does not represent or warrant that this theme will meet your requirements or that its use will be uninterrupted or error free. Optics

Q: The images in the posts are transparent - how can I fix that?
A: In the free versions before 2.0, the whole post content is transparent, also the images. There is no way to make images non-transparent. You can set the overall transparency manually: In style.css, look for "storywrap" and the line "opacity". Change the values to in- or decrease opacity. Starting from versions 2.0, images in all PREMIUM THEMES are non-transparent.

Q: Can I increase and decrease transparency of containers?
A: In versions before 2.0 yes: In style.css, look for "storywrap" and the line "opacity". Change the values to in- or decrease opacity.

Q: How can I change background colors of post, header and sidebar containers?
A: In the free versions: Simply change the HEX color code for the containers in the style.css file.

Q: How do I change the background image?
A: Simply follow the instructions in the readme file. If you don't know how to do that, please consider buying a PREMIUM THEME to get professional support.

Q: How can I use my own background image?
A: Simply follow the instructions in the readme file. If you don't know how to do that, please consider buying a PREMIUM THEME to get professional support.

Q: How do I change the default text within posts?
A: Look for 'p, li' and '.storywrap' in style.css. Change the values for font size, color etc. there (both times).

Q: How can I change sizes of containers? How do I add custom tabs and links? How can I add a sidebar or a header background image? How do I add ads? How do I add/change/remove .......
A: This is theme customization which I offer on a paid basis for PREMIUM THEMES ONLY.

Q: How do I change the avatar images in comments and on the author page?
A: These images are provided by an external service called 'gravatar' - which 'is quite simply an avatar image that follows you from blog to blog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites' - for more information go to http://gravatar.com

Q: The rounded corners are not displayed in Internet Explorer
A: This is true for versions before 2.0 - starting with 2.0, rounded corners in the PREMIUM THEMES can be seen in any common browser

Q: Firefox cuts off one pixel of the end of fonts
A: This is a Firefox bug and fixed in all PREMIUM versions starting from 2.0.

Q: How do I remove the default "home" tab on top of the header?
A: To remove the default “home” tab, you need to remove the following line out of header.php:
< li>< a href="< ?php echo get_settings('home'); ? rel="nofollow">/” title=”Home”>Home< /a> < /li>
It is in header.php two times!

Error Messages

Message: 'Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_avatar() in .......'
A: You'll need to upgrade WordPress, also for security reasons. TheBuckmaker themes are younger than some WP versions that are still in use. Before upgrading, backup your data and database!
