How do I start a WordPress Homepage (Blog)?

Starting your own blog based on WordPress is NO. BIG. DEAL. Don't hesitate because you don't know anything about WordPress, installation, web hosts, themes or functions. You'll learn it all very quickly!

First of all, your self-hosted WordPress blog is your own blog. There is never a need to worry about being controlled by or working for third parties.
