How to Choose a Niche for Your Site

In an earlier post we took a look at what exactly a niche is, and how you should define what a niche is. Now, it is time to show you how you can figure out what your sites niche is going to be.

At first this may seem like it is an easy task, but depending on the size and the complexity of your site this can be a major challenge.

The first thing that you are going to have to do is think back to your sites layout diagram. It was a basic look at the pages that you were going to develop for your site. This is a good starting place for your niches. To be honest if your diagram is detailed enough then your primary niches will already have been defined in that preparation stage. All you are going to have to do is look at your secondary niches.

There are two ways that you can do this the first way is simply on instinct. If you are experienced in developing sites, or if you simply have no intention of being dissuaded from your course then you can simply go ahead with your defined secondary niches.

If you are a bit more flexible then you may want to consider using keyword research techniques in order to define your secondary niches. If you have not defined your primary niches then you can also use this technique to define these.

Once you have your primary and secondary niches have been defined you can go ahead and make the needed changes to your site diagram or your blogs content plan. Don’t worry if you are unsure on how to do keyword research, we will cover this in a future post.
