Make Money Writing Articles for Helium

There are many websites that will pay you to write articles, and Helium just happens to be one of them. Being from the UK, I find that this therefore restricts me in the websites that I can join and write for; wherever you happen to live in the world you can write articles for Helium though, and as long as you have a Paypal account then you will be paid.

Payment per article varies, but loosely speaking; the more you write, the more you’ll be paid. You start off as a 1 star writer, and with 1 Writing Star you’ll earn $0.50 per article. For each writing star you gain, your earnings per article will rise a further $0.50, and the most Writing Star’s you can achieve is 5, for which you’ll earn $2.50 per article.

In order to earn payment you’ll also need to maintain at least 1 Rating Star, and to achieve the Rating Star you’ll need to make sure you complete at least 10 rates, and ensure that you rate a minimum of 10 articles every 3 months in order to keep the Rating Star.

You’ll earn an additional $1.00 per article if no one else has yet written to the title, and you can also suggest your own titles if what you wish to write about is not already available on the system.

The following are the only categories that you will not receive payment for with Helium: Creative Writing, Entertainment, Politics, News & Issues, Religion & Spirituality, Society & Lifestyle, all Debate articles, and you’ll not receive a fixed payment for submitting recipes either.

Admittedly, it is a fairly long list of categories that you won’t receive a fixed payment for; that still leaves you with a lot to write about though, and it’s definitely worth taking a look at Helium if you haven’t done so already.

In addition to receiving a fixed upfront payment, with Helium you’ll also receive additional earnings for article views. Views are not disclosed, and nor are the details of exactly how much money you’re paid for the views that your articles receive; you will see earnings appearing though, and on your ‘Earnings & Payments’ dashboard you’ll be able to see exactly how much each article has earned you for the month, the year, and in total since submission.

If you discipline yourself and dedicate time each day to writing articles and submitting them to social networking sites, then there’s good money to be made in writing articles for Helium. As I said before; the great thing about Helium is that as long as you have a Paypal account then you can receive payment from Helium, and unlike some sites you can therefore become a member wherever you happen to live in the world.

Helium pays out once a month on the 10th, and as soon as you accumulate at least $25 in earnings then you can request a payment. Having received multiple payments from Helium in the last 18 months, I can safely say that Helium is certainly not a scam, and I’ve actually thoroughly enjoyed myself writing articles for the website.

If you enjoy writing then Helium is a website you should definitely consider submitting articles to, and you’ll be able to earn money writing about the subjects that really interest you.

  2. What you've said is factually correct but like so many articles about writing for Helium, it's much too vague about what the earnings are likely to be.

I used to spend a lot of time on Helium and did a fair bit of research with other Heliumites, as well as watching the forums and collecting information. The average earnings for most Helium writers used to be 5 to 10 cents per article per month.

I still maintain my rating star although I no longer contribute, and I'm noticing that earnings have improved somewhat - doubtless because such a lot of articles have been deleted, and they're not paying writers who haven't maintained their rating star, both of which mean the existing pot gets shared between fewer writers.

But it's still not much if you consider how much effort I put into writing those articles in the first place. Not to mention the time spent rating, and promoting (which I no longer bother with). It's so easy to lose track of time on the internet, that I think most Heliumites don't even realise how many hours they've put in to earning their dollars.

Do be aware that if you get banned - and it's not that hard to be banned without explanation - Helium keeps your articles and continues to earn from them.

  3. I work for Helium.com, and my inbox is always open to answer questions and inquiries.

Helium has unlimited opportunities for writing and multiple platforms for earning -- from freelance gigs with our some 500 publishing partners from the magazine, web and -- increasingly -- newspaper world. We also have a community gateway program to allow local residents to participate more directly in their newspapers in their region. In addition we have Zones, mini-website pages where you can provide a platform for your work and interests, and promote other websites, blogs to which you are connected.
