When you are starting a blog then one of your biggest choices is which platform you are going to use to host that blog. Two of the biggest host options that you have are Wordpress and Blogger. Both are fine hosting options but each one will be right for certain types of bloggers so today lets look at how to decide which platform is right for you.
Costs of hosting
Both Blogger and Wordpress have a free option available with a sub domain. If you want to have a domain name of your very own this is where the hosts vary. If you choose to go with Blogger it will cost you 10 dollars a year without the registration costs of the domain name. If you have a Wordpress blog to get a domain name you will have to find a 3rd party hosting site that supports Wordpress. They will give you a listing on the site, but the costs will vary and usually be a monthly cost.
Blogging Accounts
If you have multiple bloggers you will need to consider how they will post. In Wordpress each blogger must register for an account on your site. In blogger if you have any Google accounts (Gmail, Google Docs, GTalk, ect…) can be linked to the blog to write. You simply have to give them access. This is slightly easier for bloggers because they can see all of the blogs in one dashboard, which keeps you from having to sign in and out from a half dozen sites individually.
Separate Pages
If you want to have pages on your site that are not part of the blog then you will want to choose Wordpress since this allows you to make side pages and Blogger will not.
