Two Things Not to Be Cheap About When Blogging

The news revolving around the economy and jobs gets more depressing every day. Everyone wants to make more money, while keeping their wallets shut. When it comes to blogging, there are two key things never to be cheap about – content and domains.

Free Content: As I have said before, your content is what keeps readers coming back for more. It is also what gets them to tell others, “This blog is great”. So many people are lazy or cheap that they will use legal free content or buy content that is a few dollars. That is wrong on so many levels because you are lowering your blog’s authenticity as well as cheapening the look of your blog with content sloppily researched and written. If you are not going to write all the content yourself, hire a professional freelance blogger who will write better content.

Free Domains: It is so tempting to set up a free blogger or WordPress account when you first being to blog. It costs nothing and is simple to set up. However, with a free domain, you lower your chances of advertisement and Google hits. Instead, invest in a good domain company that will help you pick an SEO friendly name and allow you a lot of web space. Even the free domains that get many hits and could be considered successful never get a PR as high as they deserve. When it comes to advertising, companies may say, “Why should I pay someone to sell my site if they cannot even afford to buy their own domain?”

I know money is tight, but when it comes to blogging, you have to spend a little to make a real investment into your blog. Sticking with free content and a free domain name will only get your blog hidden in the several Google pages of blogs that are just like yours.

    This is so true.

Still, it baffles me why so many people flock to either blogger or wordpress when they first start to think about blogging. May be its good to make a startup there and practice the intricacies of blogging and getting acquainted with the blogosphere.
