As you may have already noticed, I'm working on TheBuckmaker quite a bit. That could have lead to some weird user experiences when parts of this site started collapsing or were suddenly found on the bottom of the page and so on. Sorry for that! Well, the work is almost done and I've tried to give TheBuckmaker a sleeker design and some new functions like postratings and stats. This is to prepare this site for some co-authors I'm currently looking for. Thanks to a job ad at Problogger.net I already got some 20+ applications, and I think of starting with 3-5 very promising authors. The application form ('job board') is still up and I will wait some more days before selecting writers and contacting them.
All the new authors' posts can be rated. I wanted to give you this opportunity to let me know how you feel about the quality of their writing and content. Also please feel free to get into discussion with them. They will especially write posts in the new categories 'Get Started', 'Internet Life' and 'Make Money'. Some details:
'Get Started': How to start a homepage or blog, how to find a good webhost, what can one do without knowledge of HTML, PHP or CSS, how to improve search results, ...
'Internet Life': What's going on in the Web, trends coming up, Stories out of the daily life of a blogger or webmaster, funny things happening, ...
'Make Money': How you can use the internet and especially blogs to earn a living (or just pay your grocery bill if you're less ambitioned), how to find advertisers, how to become an affiliate, ...
I know that many authors have already dealt with these topics, but the playing field is constantly changing and adding them to TheBuckmaker.com would certainly make this site rounder - as it concentrated very much on 'just' free WordPress Themes - which is one little fragment of what one should know when putting a foot into the Internet. While the new authors will cover the new topics, I will keep on developing WordPress Themes and supporting them as good as I can. It's an experiment, but I'm quite sure that you will stumble over some cutting-edge, well-written and provoking posts.
I will hire my crew, grab the wheel and steer this steamboat into the ocean - I'm sure there's still some virgin soil out there. Stay tuned!
Sound like a great idea. I wish you the best of luck. And here's hoping your steamboat steers clear of any virgin soil
