The best written and most fascinating internet content is worthless if no one reads it. If Elvis Presley was alive and decided to use your blog to explain how he faked his death to pursue a simpler existence, nobody would be able to read it if you don't have any traffic. Good content alone will not magically produce readers, you need to employ some traffic building strategies. Entrecard "dropping" is one such strategy.
Entrecard takes a reciprocal approach to building traffic for your blog. Bloggers visit other participant's blogs and "drop a card" off to let them know they were there. When the author of that visited blog sees the card he follows it back to the original blogger's site and drops his card. This back and forth could go on endlessly between these same two "droppers". You are not allowed to drop on the same blog more than once per day but you are permitted up to 300 drops per day. So potentially, your drops alone could initiate 300 return drops in a day.
If you are participating in something like Today.com where at least part of your payment comes from the number of visits you get, those drops by themselves would have some impact on your bottom line. But in addition to the return drops you get, there will always be other droppers who either happen upon you or find you through a search.
But wait! There's more! Entrecard not only drives traffic to your blog through drops, it offers you the opportunity to advertise for cheap on blogs of your choosing!
Every time you drop a card at another blog you receive an EC, an Entrecard credit. This is the currency used at Entrecard that you use to buy ad space on other blogs. How cool is that? Once you have been approved by the author of that blog, your "card" will be displayed on that blog for 24 hours in the margin with the Entrecard widget. Your card will link to your blog so readers can easily hop to your blog. The Entrecard widgets are almost always placed in a prime spot near the top so that it is easy for other droppers to find and drop on quickly, which means your card is in a prime spot.
Dropping can sometimes be tedious but the bonus is you will discover some fantastic blogs and useful information along the way. Entrecard drives traffic, offers free advertising, and exposes you to good and fun information. I'm a dropper, are you?
